Cookie Policy (EU ePrivacy & GDPR)

This Cookie Policy explains how The JuLee Project Limited ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Au Pair Training website and related services (together, the "Platform"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are used to make websites work, keep you logged in, and (where enabled) remember preferences or measure usage. Similar technologies include local storage and device-held access tokens used by mobile apps.

2. Legal Framework

Our use of cookies is governed by:

  • Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy Directive), as amended — requires informed consent before placing non-essential cookies.
  • Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) — governs personal data processed through cookies and similar technologies.

We only place strictly necessary cookies without consent. If we introduce non-essential cookies (for example analytics or marketing) in the future, we will ask for your prior consent before setting them and update this policy.

3. Cookies Used on Our Website

Today the website uses only cookies that are required for security and core account features. We display a cookie notice that explains this use and lets visitors remove the optional 30-day remember-me cookie. We do not set analytics, advertising, or optional tracking cookies.

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function (session login, CSRF/session integrity, and optional “keep me logged in”). They do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.

Cookie Purpose Duration
PHPSESSID (or the configured PHP session name) Maintains your signed-in session on the website (host family, au pair, agency, or admin dashboards). Session (ends when the browser session ends, subject to server session settings)
apt_remember Optional “Keep me logged in” cookie. Stores a rotating selector/validator token so you can return without re-entering your password. Set only if you enable remember-me on login. 30 days

3.2 Payment Cookies (when checkout is used)

When you complete a purchase, our payment provider Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd.) may set cookies that are necessary for secure payment processing and fraud prevention. These are used in connection with the checkout flow you request.

Cookie (examples) Provider Purpose Duration
__stripe_mid Stripe Fraud detection and prevention Typically up to 1 year
__stripe_sid Stripe Fraud detection and prevention Short-lived (session / minutes)

For more information, see Stripe's Privacy Policy.

3.3 Cookies We Do Not Use

The website does not currently set:

  • Analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics _ga / _ga_*)
  • Advertising or social-media tracking cookies
  • Optional language/preference cookies
  • A separate cookie_consent cookie (the acknowledgement for our cookie notice is stored locally in the browser, not used for tracking)

If we add any of the above later, we will implement a consent mechanism and update this policy before those cookies are placed.

4. Mobile learning service

The Au Pair Training mobile learning experience authenticates through our API (email one-time passcode / OTP), not through browser cookies. After successful login, the app stores access tokens on the device so you can stay logged in and load lessons offline-capable sessions as designed.

  • These tokens are necessary to provide the learning service you request.
  • They are not website cookies and are not used for third-party advertising.
  • You can end the session by logging out of the app.

Device identifiers may be used for security features such as device lock and re-authentication. Details of personal data processing are covered in the Privacy Policy.

5. How to Manage Cookies

5.1 Website controls

The cookie notice offers an “essential cookies only” option, which removes the persistent remember-me cookie while leaving the session cookie required for the current visit. You can also clear your session by logging out. To avoid a new remember-me cookie, leave “Keep me logged in” unticked when signing in.

5.2 Browser Settings

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete existing cookies.
  • Block cookies from specific or all websites.
  • Set preferences for certain types of cookies.

Instructions for common browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Please note: Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent login and dashboards from working.

6. Legal Basis for Cookie Use

  • Strictly necessary cookies (session + optional remember-me): exempt under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive as essential for a service you request; GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and/or (f) as applicable.
  • Payment-related cookies (Stripe): contractual necessity / fraud prevention for the checkout you initiate (Art. 6(1)(b) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Future non-essential cookies: would be based on consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) via a consent mechanism before those cookies are set.

7. Data Transfers

Payment processing via Stripe may involve transfers outside your country of residence. Where such transfers take place, they are protected by appropriate safeguards (for example Standard Contractual Clauses) as described by the provider and in our Privacy Policy.

8. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access information about personal data collected via cookies / similar technologies.
  • Request erasure of your personal data where applicable.
  • Object to certain processing and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Cyprus: the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection).

For a full list of your rights, see our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when our implementation changes (for example if analytics cookies or a consent banner are introduced). The updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
